Jasper Ephan Cardoza brought his two children to school early morning yesterday. He literally bid his last goodbye.
Cardoza's two sons had just disembarked from a motorcycle when two unidentified men peppered him with bullets in front of the Colawin Elementary School in barangay Colawin, Argao town, southern Cebu.
Cardoza, 55, was killed on the spot with several gunshot wounds in the body.
“Igo lang gipakanaog ang mga bata, dayon pusil (The gunmen just waited for the kids to disembark and then attacked the victim right away,” said PO1 Bernardo Banogon of the Argao police.
There were several people in the area when the incident happened past 6 a.m. but no one was willing to talk to investigators, said PO1 Banogon.
Police suspected that the two gunmen waited for the victim at the school.
Police said the two perpetrators were armed with .45 caliber pistols.
The two gunmen fled on foot after the shooting.
Police said Cardoza had been jailed before due to murder charges.
Police said they suspect that the crime was carried out by individuals who harbor a grudge against the victim.
Police said certain individuals will be invited as part of the investigation.
