ZAMBOANGA CITY ? (UPDATE) Businessman Eliseo Jablo, who has been missing since January 8, was found by police in a village here Tuesday morning, authorities said.
"He is safe,? said Chief Superintendent Angelo Sunglao, Philippine National Police Western Mindanao director.
Senior Superintendent Mario Yanga, Zamboanga Police acting chief, said Jablo, a franchise holder of Julie's Bakeshop in Barangay (village) San Roque here, was recovered at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Upper Calarian.
"He looks quite ill and frail and undergoing medical attention," Yanga added.
In a separate interview with INQUIRER.net, Yanga said the businessman was undergoing stress debriefing.
No ransom was paid for Jablo?s release and kidnappers were members of a ?local group,? Yanga said.
He added that police were able to arrest some ?five or six? suspects during the rescue operation led by Zamboanga City police anti-kidnapping unit inside Southcom Village, Upper Calarian.
Two of the suspects were policemen.
?Mga scalawags ito [These are scalawags],? Yanga said.
He declined to give further information as police were pursuing other suspects.
