MANILA, Philippines -- The board of directors of the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo City has expelled businessman Delfin dela Paz, suspended Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman Sr. for two years and banned their children from the golf course in connection with a brawl last month.

"A letter form the board informed us that we have been expelled," Dela Paz confirmed.

Dela Paz said the same letter he got also stated Pangandaman's two-year suspension and the ban on his sons Hussein and Nasser Jr., the mayor of the Masiu, Lanao del Sur. Dela Paz's children Bambee and Bino were also banned from playing in the club.

The Dela Pazes and the Pangandamans have filed charges and counter-charges against each other with the Antipolo Prosecutors' Office, over the fight on the golf course that hogged the headlines for days.

Valley Secretary Teofilo Abejo confirmed the board's decisions in a press conference later.

The elder Dela Paz was expelled for disorderly conduct in instigating the brawl. Pangandaman Sr. was suspended only because he was not directly involved in the melee. He, however, was deemed accountable for the disorderly conduct of his guests (in this case, his sons), hence, the suspension.

The parties could still appeal the decision of the club, said Abejo.
