MANILA, Philippines—The House of Representatives will begin its inquiry Tuesday on the alleged bribery try on Justice and drug enforcement officials to dismiss the drug cases of three suspects from well-off families.
The hearing, to be conducted by the committee on dangerous drugs, is scheduled at 10 a.m.
Cebu Representative Antonio Cuenco said the inquiry sought to uncover if there was indeed an attempt by the families of Richard Brodett, Jorge Joseph and Joseph Tecson, the three suspects in the drug case, to bribe officials to dismiss the case.
Officials of the Department of Justice led by Undersecretary Ricardo Blancaflor and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) led by its director Dionisio Santiago, and the families of the suspects were among those invited to attend.
The so-called “Alabang Boys” were arrested by agents of PDEA’s Special Enforcement Service led by Major Ferdinand Marcelino on September 20 in Ayala-Alabang, Muntinlupa and in Cubao, Quezon City for possession of 60 tablets of Ecstasy, sachets of cocaine, and marijuana.
