MANILA, Philippines? The Valley Golf and Country Club Tuesday pledged firm and fair action on the case involving a fight between the families of Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman and businessman Delfin de la Paz.
It is expected to come out with a decision in the next two days, officials said.
?Members have equal rights in Valley regardless of position or stature,? Valley clubhouse affairs manager Bong Vilchez told the Philippine Daily Inquirer (parent company of INQUIRER.net).
?We want to move justly and swiftly. We want to make sure that we are adapting the correct procedure in solving this case because we also want to serve as an example to other clubs.?
Vilchez said the club was set to hear the side of Pangandaman?s son, Nasser Jr., Tuesday night. He was one of two Pangandaman sons involved in the tee house fight at the Antipolo City golf club.
The De la Paz family has already given its side to the club?s board of directors and its legal, membership and sports and games committees, Vilchez said.
In a meeting Tuesday lasting close to four hours, De la Paz and daughter Bambee gave their accounts of what happened at the tee house of Hole No. 5 and at the clubhouse.
De la Paz and his son Bino, 14, one of the country?s top junior golfers in his age-group, who saw action in the Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego last June, were injured in the fight.
Vilchez said the club was also coordinating with the National Bureau of Investigation.
?Please bear with us,? Vilchez said. ?We will come up with a statement as soon as the investigation is finished and the board has made its decision.?
