Mayor Lim resigns from Estrada party

MANILA -- Mayor Alfredo Lim has tendered his irrevocable resignation from the Partido ng Masang Pilipino (Party of the Filipino Masses) after former president Joseph Estrada claimed in an interview aired Tuesday night that the Manila mayor had resigned.

Lim, who was surprised by the former leader?s statement, said Wednesday he took it as a hint to withdraw from the position he was appointed to last year.

The mayor's curt resignation letter will be sent to Estrada Wednesday.
