Tropical Storm “Butchoy” gained more strength as it slowed down over the Pacific Ocean, making it highly likely to intensify into a typhoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said Friday.
The Office of Civil Defense in Eastern Visayas has put all all disaster councils across the region on alert as Tropical Storm Butchoy passed close enough to the region to affect it with gale-force winds and heavy seas.

“Butchoy” or “Buchoy” or “Butsoy”—it will still pack quite a wallop if it hits the Philippines.
