President Benigno Aquino III, Vice President Jejomar Binay and Interior Secretary Mar Roxas on Friday led other government officials and more than a million devotees in a National Thanksgiving Mass for the canonization of St. Pedro Calungsod.

Open field ready for Pedro’s National Thanksgiving Mass

An open field in the South Road Properties (SRP) will fill up today with thousands of devotees under the watchful eyes of over 1,500 policemen for the National Thanksgiving Mass for St. Pedro Calungsod.

Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma poured sacred oil on a bare altar table, burned incense and added a piece of the bone of St. Therese of the Child Jesus as a treasure of the newest church dedicated to St. Pedro Calungsod.

Catholic Church officials are seeing a revival of faith in the nationwide tour of the image of St. Pedro Calungsod, saying that up to a million people have gone out into the streets to greet the likeness of the new Filipino saint everywhere it went.
