Gunmen kill 20 at Sudan UN base–US envoy

The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan, Toby Lanzer, speaks to journalists in Juba, on April 17, 2014.  Gunmen stormed a  UN base in South Sudan today to slaughter civilians from a rival tribe sheltering there, wounding dozens in an "unprovoked" attack before peacekeepers fought them off, the UN said. The top UN aid official in South Sudan, Toby Lanzer, said he was "outraged" by the assault in the war-ravaged town of Bor, in which two peacekeepers were also wounded. AFP

Gunmen killed at least 20 people and wounded 70 others when they stormed a UN base in South Sudan Thursday, the US envoy to the world body said.
