6 firms ask court to stop SBMA from collecting tourism fees

Six companies at Subic Bay Freeport in Zambales and Bataan provinces have asked an Olongapo court to nullify an environment and tourism administrative fee (Etaf) that the state-run Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) has been collecting from tourists since March this year.

The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the indictment for graft of 18 current and former top officials of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) for manifest partiality and evident bad faith in awarding a contract to port operator Harbour Centre Port Terminal Inc. in 2010.
