Employees ask Malacañang to probe local NIA officials

Employees of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) have asked President Benigno Aquino III to investigate three agency officials for changing procedures to allow a contractor to corner a P105-million project in Mindanao instead of letting farmers provide the labor as an alternative source of livelihood.

Online processing of students holding summer jobs goes in Soccsksargen

The Department of Labor and Employment’s regional office in Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos) is now using the Internet to process documents and even part of the salaries of students holding summer jobs in the government under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), officials said Wednesday.

The Sandiganbayan decision to convict and sentence to life in prison two incumbent provincial board members and seven former officials of the province for involvement in a 2003 case of pork barrel fund theft should serve as a lesson to all government officials, according to the anticorruption group that worked hard to have the case filed and tried.
