The Court of Appeals dismissed the bid of Las Pinas Representative, now Team PNoy senatorial candidate Cynthia Villar to stop the implementation of the P14-billion reclamation project in Manila Bay.
The Makati-based Public Estates Authority, now the Philippine Reclamation Authority, was created through Presidential Decree No. 1084 which was signed on Feb. 4, 1977. The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has rejected the demand of fisher folk that it recall its approval of land reclamation projects in Manila Bay, a militant group said on Saturday.

It’s more fun to leave Manila Bay alone. This was the assertion made by a group of civic leaders and environmental advocates who are opposing plans approved last year by the Manila city council to reclaim and turn parts of the bay into a bustling commercial hub.
Reclamation projects, if done properly, is the answer to flooding, according to Mines and Geosciences Bureau Director engineer Leo Jasareno.
