Chief Justice Renato Corona admitted they closed their accounts in Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank) on the day he was impeached in Congress saying they lost trust and confidence with the bank who he believes has been leaking his bank records.
Congress has asked the Supreme Court to junk the petition of Chief Justice Renato Corona seeking to stop the impeachment proceeding against him and the presentation of evidence pertaining to his bank deposits, according to a statement issued by the Prosecution.
Chief Justice Renato Corona, through his lawyers, has asked the Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, to “suppress, exclude, and expunge” all evidence pertaining to his accounts with the Philippine Savings Bank (PS Bank), saying they were obtained through an “unlawful search.”
“Hear us first before judging the Chief Justice,” Tranquil Salvador III, one of the lawyers for Chief Justice Renato Corona, said Friday in an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990AM.
Records on bank deposits should be treated with confidentiality and whoever, public or private individuals in possession of these, must be held accountable, the defense said Thursday.
