8 inmates escape from Quezon district jail

At least eight inmates bolted the district jail of the Bureau and Management and Penology in Gumaca, Quezon, before dawn Tuesday, police said. But a radio report, quoting Gumaca Mayor Erwin Caralian, said that one of the escapees had been recaptured by the police.

Eleven men detained at the Mandaluyong City police station escaped on Monday after they sawed off the iron bars of a window in the toilet inside their cell. One of them, however, was recaptured after a relative turned him in.
