All clear as another Sandigan division allows Mike Arroyo to travel abroad

The Sandiganbayan just removed the final obstacle to former First Gentleman Juan Miguel “Mike” Arroyo’s trip abroad when its second division granted his petition to travel to Japan and Hong Kong from February 3 to 10.

On November 23, 2011, a fact-finding panel of the Office of the Ombudsman found Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo liable for graft charges in relation with the allegedly anomalous purchase of secondhand helicopters by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in 2009.

Jose Miguel Arroyo was haled to court Wednesday over the sale to the Philippine National Police of two of five helicopters which he allegedly bought from an American firm for the use of his wife, then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, for her campaign in the 2004 presidential election.
