Guam heightens alert level after North Korea threats

Guam has raised its official threat level and on Thursday tested its emergency alert system after warnings from North Korea identifying the island as a potential missile target.

The Defense Department said it was deploying a missile defense shield to the territory of Guam in the Pacific to protect the U.S. and its allies in the region in response to North Korea’s increasingly hostile talk. The North renewed its threat to launch a nuclear attack on the United States.
