Unperturbed by allegations of massive glitches, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. on Thursday said he would file charges against his critics, insisting that Monday’s automated balloting was “one of the best elections” in the country’s history.
The administration’s Team PNoy on Thursday called on election officials to explain the alleged glitches that had slowed the official canvass of Monday’s polling.
After a spurt in the first hours after the voting ended, the counting slowed, making the tally in the country’s second automated polls move at snail’s pace and raising questions about the credibility of the results.
Glitches in vote counting machines bedevilled yesterday’s midterm voting in Cebu.
The poll watchdog Kontra Daya on Sunday warned that Saturday’s mock polls conducted by the Commission on Elections were attended by the same glitches observed during the 2010 elections and showed that the Comelec was not prepared for another automated balloting.
