In much of the country, the trend was toward a significant reduction of firecracker-related injuries during the raucous New Year’s Eve celebrations, according to health officials.
Three days before the New Year, the number of injured ahead of the revelry rose to 165 on Saturday, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
In an effort to minimize firecracker-related injuries and casualties this holiday season, the Department of Interior and Local Government on Tuesday asked local officials to establish “firecracker and pyrotechnic zones” in their areas.
