The Northern Police District (NPD) has made over a hundred arrests and confiscated around 130 firearms, explosives and other weapons since Jan. 13, the start of the five-month election gun ban.
A Quezon City councilor sought the exemption of all barangay (village) chairmen in the city from the gun ban imposed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), claiming that the village chiefs should be considered law enforcers exposed to dangerous criminals.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Thursday, it would enforce the right of reply rule on charges printed or aired against candidates in the May midterm elections.
