Arlene “Kaka” Bag-ao on Wednesday defended her role as a conduit for funds for pork projects in Dinagat Island, saying any benefit it may have to her run for the district’s congressional seat next year was only “incidental.”

Ten years after his wife’s body was found inside a black garbage bag dumped in a ravine, Rep. Ruben Ecleo Jr. of Dinagat Island was found guilty of parricide and sentenced to reclusion perpetua, or at least 30 years’ imprisonment.
