Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago on Thursday asked the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to investigate how businessman Antonio Tiu managed to acquire huge tracts of land that now form part of a 350-hectare property in Rosario town, Batangas province, allegedly owned by Vice President Jejomar Binay.
The Senate has approved on third and final reading the measure that would allow the Department of Agrarian Reform to continue acquiring and distributing land covered by the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program for two more years.
