‘Corona will return’ against doctors’ advice

Against his doctors’ advice, Chief Justice Renato Corona is returning to the Senate impeachment court Friday amid warnings from his lawyers that the trial would be tarnished with illegality if the defense was forced to rest its case prematurely.

In The Know: Hypoglycemia

Chief Justice Renato Corona, a longtime diabetic with two bypass surgeries in the past, was still confined at the intensive care unit of The Medical City in Pasig City due to the “hypoglycemic episode” he suffered soon after delivering a three-hour “opening statement” on Tuesday.

Hypoglycemia occurs when the blood glucose drops below normal levels.

Doctors monitoring the condition of Chief Justice Renato Corona fear a possible heart attack and are ruling out his return to the Senate impeachment tribunal in the next 48 hours to resume his testimony.
