Politician pleads guilty to cocaine charge, takes leave

District of Columbia court records show charges against Radel were filed Tuesday. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington says the cocaine possession charge, a misdemeanor, carries a statutory maximum of 6 months in prison and a fine of $1,000. Radel was arrested on Oct. 29, according to court records. AP

A Florida congressman said Wednesday he was taking a leave of absence from Congress and donating his salary to charity after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of cocaine possession and receiving a sentence of a year’s probation.

All flags in Bohol were flown at half-staff on Wednesday in honor of former governor and second district Rep. Erico Aumentado, who died on Christmas evening after a battle with pneumonia.
