Maguindanao offers to host signing of peace pact between gov’t, MILF

Ameril Umra Kato, a Moro rebel leader who has broken away from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, and has been leading his men in battles against government troops in protest of the peace pact between the MILF and the Philippine government, has been staying in MILF communities that the military could not just enter, authorities said.

Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) leader Ustadz Ameril Umra Kato still calls the shots in the group’s battles against government troops. This claim was made by the rebel group’s spokesman on Wednesday, in debunking reports that Kato has become paralyzed after suffering a stroke.
