On the fifth death anniversary of former President Corazon Aquino on Friday, her youngest daughter Kris Aquino turned emotional as she asked for support and prayers for President Benigno Aquino III who, the celebrity host said, was “doing a good job” running the country.

Senate joins probe of alleged extort try on Czech firm

The Senate will start looking into the alleged $30-million extortion attempt on a Czech train maker when the scandal is raised in Monday’s inquiry into delayed government projects, including the purchase of 48 new coaches for the badly congested Metro Rail Transit.

Some came in wheelchairs, a few with canes. Many took halting steps with arthritic knees. But they came, anyway, to pay their respects to the late President Cory Aquino, who would have turned 80 years old on Friday.
