An official of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines’ (CBCP) social arm on Friday challenged the country’s nearly 2,000 new lawyers to become champions of the rights of the poor.
While he is not happy that the University of the Philippines did not place in the top 10 of the 2011 bar exams, the dean of the UP College of Law is more than satisfied with the school’s improved passing rate.
All Raoul Angelo Atadero wanted was to pass the Bar. “After each and every difficult test, I just wanted to pass,” Atadero, 27, valedictorian of Ateneo Law Class 2011, told INQUIRER.net in an interview.

There’s someone from the University of the Philippines (UP) on the Top 10 of the bar exams, after all. But he earned his law degree not from UP but from the San Beda Alabang College of Law in Muntinlupa City.
