Worker found dead in air base facility

ZAMBOANGA CITY?A Filipino working for US military forces at a facility inside the Edwin Andrews Airbase in Barangay Sta. Maria was found dead on Aug. 16.

But Chief Insp. Felix Martinez of the Sta. Maria police station said no sign of foul play was found when the body of Francis Moleno, 37, a power generator operator, and his quarters were examined. ?There was no sign of struggle, it seems that he died of natural death,? he said.

Moleno?s body was discovered by a colleague inside his quarters at around 7 a.m.

Suspected private army group leader arrested

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL?A suspected leader of a private armed group in the northern part of the province was arrested on Saturday morning by policemen and Army soldiers in a raid on his house in Barangay Naburos, Baliangao town.

Francisco ?Dondon? Daque Jr., 38, was arrested based on arrest warrants issued by the courts in Dipolog City, Calamba town in Misamis Occidental, and Sibutad town in Zamboanga del Norte, where he is facing cases of murder, frustrated murder, homicide, arson and theft.

Teen had suicide notes on Facebook

BACOLOD CITY?A teenager who decided to end it all by hanging himself with a leather belt from the ceiling of his home on Thursday night had spoken of death on his Facebook wall hours before the suicide.

The body of a 17-year-old boy, who allegedly could not take a breakup with his girlfriend in 2008, was found by his brother-in-law, said Chief Insp. Placido Gentoleo, commander of the city police office?s Station 8.

High school student found hanging in hut

CADIZ CITY?A second-year high school student found hanging from the ceiling of the family?s nipa hut on Thursday could have been murdered, said Chief Insp. Noel Mana-ay, city police chief.

The 14-year-old victim was found hanging with a nylon cord tied around her neck at about 6 a.m. by her elder sister and brother.

Police doubt that she committed suicide after an autopsy report showed a wound in her back and bruises in her thighs and an ankle, aside from a strangulation mark on her neck. Carla P. Gomez, Inquirer Visayas

Neighbors beat rape suspect with chairs

LAGUNA?A man was almost killed after his three neighbors beat him up with Monoblock chairs in Kalayaan town, police said on Saturday.

Wenceslao Cabrera, 59, suffered contusions in the head and bruises in the body from incessant beating by his three neighbors, including the father of a girl he allegedly raped?in Barangay Longos at around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, said Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz, provincial police director.

The attack stopped only when Cabrera played dead and policemen arrived. Maricar Cinco, Inquirer Southern Luzon
