Aquino sisters say brother won’t tarnish parents’ names

BACOLOD CITY??I can stake my life on it. My brother will not tarnish our family name and steal in office,? Aurora Corazon ?Pinky? Aquino Abellada said of her brother Benigno ?Noynoy? Aquino III.

Abellada and Maria Elena ?Ballsy? Cruz, sisters of the Liberal Party presidential standard-bearer, were in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday.

Abellada? told Inquirer on Sunday that the Aquinos continued to get warm and enthusiastic welcome from people who are spending their own money to put up headquarters around the country for their brother?s campaign.

?They are telling us that they are helping because they want a better government and they have hope for change again with Noy running,? she said.

?They tell us they were sad about the corruption and greed in the country and were losing hope. But when mom (former President Corazon Aquino) died, they were awakened to (the) memories of better days of clean government, which our brother represents,? Abellada added.

Giving back

She said the Filipino people have given their family so much love, they wanted to give back what they could through service.

On the other hand, Cruz said they were not concerned over the administration?s political machinery.

?I am not at all intimidated. I just believe that if God wants him (Benigno Aquino III) to be president, He will just put everything in place,? she said.

LP vice presidential hopeful Sen. Mar Roxas on Sunday said there was an ongoing demolition job against his team and its supporters, because they were always on top of the surveys.

Seeing plots

Roxas said the administration party was bent on destroying them, because they have the support of the people, citing results of several surveys by the Social Weather Stations.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) had tried to unseat Bulacan Gov. Joselito Mendoza and Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca, who are supporting the candidacies of Aquino and Roxas.

Roxas, who was with the Aquino sisters on Sunday, said he and Aquino have no bosses.
