TACLOBAN CITY?THE PHILIPpine Drug Enforcement Agency in Eastern Visayas reported seizing several sacks of suspected cocaine off Llorente town in Eastern Samar on Tuesday.
Mark Damaso, chief operations officer of the regional PDEA, said the haul was discovered by a fisherman.
He said, however, that tests have to be made to determine if the sacks contained cocaine.
Damaso said an unidentified fisherman found the sacks floating in the water.
The fisherman collected the sacks and brought these to shore where he saw white crystalline substances in them.
The fisherman reported his find to police which took custody of the suspicious sacks.
Damaso said if, indeed, the sacks contained cocaine, these could have been dropped off by a cargo ship in waters off the town that formed part of the Pacific Ocean.
Cocaine, he said, is not manufactured in the country.
Damaso could not say how many sacks containing the suspected cocaine were found by the fisherman.
