ROXAS CITY—Capiz governor Victor Tanco Sr. and retired Philippine National Police (PNP) director Roberto Lastimoso on Saturday led the filing of the certificates of candidacy (CoC) by local candidates of the Liberal Party (LP) in Capiz.
Tanco, who will be running for reelection, will be up against controversial former agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante, who was investigated at the Senate over the alleged misuse of P728 million in funds for fertilizers.
Lastimoso will be running for congressman against Jane Tan-Castro, the wife of incumbent Rep. Fredenil Castro.
Bolante and Castro are officials and founders of the Ugyon Kita Capiz (UKC), a newly organized party.
The LP’s congressional candidate for Capiz 1st district, first-term Rep. Antonio del Rosario, who filed his CoC on Thursday, would be running against incumbent Capiz Vice Gov. Felipe Barredo of UKC.
The other LP candidates who filed their CoCs Saturday included Provincial Board Member Esteban Evan Contreras, who is running for vice governor with Tanco. Felipe Celino, Inquirer Visayas
