BACOLOD CITY—Over 50 candidates in Negros Occidental, including three for mayor and four for vice mayor, filed their certificates of candidacy (CoC) on Friday, Negros Occidental Elections Provincial Supervisor Jessie Suares said.
In Don Salvador Benedicto (DSB), incumbent Mayor Laurence Marxlen dela Cruz, his mother Vice Mayor Cynthia de la Cruz and brother Councilor Nehemiah Jose dela Cruz filed their CoCs for reelection.
The other candidates for councilor in the DSB were Ma. Ludes Alcorin, Vicente Bacordo, Adriano Bacordo, Susan Alisna, Henry Alcorin and Dante Rodrigazo.
In Sipalay City, Vice Mayor Oscar Montilla Jr. filed his CoC to run for mayor again, in place of his mother incumbent Mayor Soledad Montilla, while Bebsie Villegas filed his CoC for vice mayor.
The candidates for councilor in Sipalay who also filed their CoCs included Eduardo Bragat, Dennis Galvan, Jonathan Eran, Pablo Villarin Sr., Alfredo Lim, Dionilo Bogtae, Ma. Myrna Fernandez, Jimmy Debuyan, Annabelle Nobleza, Francisco Salvacion Jr., Edgar Tayactac, Alan Nagum, William Selga, Lunie Lahaolahao, Lolita Balag and Leodegario Gonzales III.
In Pontevedra, Mayor Jose Maria Alonso filed his CoC for reelection.
In the same town, Larry Parroco will run for vice mayor while Helen Quillo, Nestor Dojillo, Norman Espinosa, Ma. Silveria Matti, Reymund Gurrea, Rommel Gabitoya, Lyndre Moguab, Gee Ray Soliguen and Jimmy Gavan will be vying for councilor.
Silay Vice Mayor Mark Andrew Arthur Golez on Friday also filed his CoC for reelection, while Oldarico Penuela and Edgardo Maravilla will be running for councilor in the city.
