BACOLOD CITY?The wives of a congressman and three mayors will run for mayor in four Negros Occidental towns next year.
Negros Occidental 4th district Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer confirmed on Thursday that his wife, lawyer Juliet Marie Ferrer, would run for mayor of La Carlota City.
Incumbent La Carlota City Mayor Demie John Honrado would not seek reelection, Ferrer said.
He said Honrado would act as the campaign manager of Mrs. Ferrer.
Murcia Mayor Esteban Coscolluela also said on Thursday that his wife, Judith, would run for mayor of their town.
Third term Manapla Mayor Salvador Escalante said his wife, Lourdes Locsin Escalante, would run for mayor of the town, while San Enrique Mayor Dr. Jilson Tubillara?s wife, Florinda, also has plans to run for mayor of San Enrique.
United Negros Alliance (UNA) gubernatorial candidate Alfredo Marañon Jr. would lead UNA congressional and provincial officials in filing their certificates of candidacy on Nov. 28.
Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) administrator Rafael Coscolluela was also expected to announce his gubernatorial bid next week.
Marañon had boasted that he would win by a landslide.
?In that case, I?ll just try harder,? SRA chief Coscolluela said in return.
