THE Pag-asa Youth Association Talisay City, Cebu Chapter and its project ?Onward? were among the finalists that made it to the regional search for the Ten Accomplished Youth Organization or TAYO.
Last Sept. 24 and 25, nine youths who represented their respective organizations and groups all over the Central Visayas were screened by the TAYO Committee at the Golden Peak Hotel.
Five of the nine finalists were picked including the PYAP of Talisay City (composed mostly of out of school youths organized by the local DSWD) to compete for the TAYO national search.
Rex Villavez, federation president of PYAP, was hoping that their entry will make it to the 10 national search winners.
The Onward project is an integrated project which covers six areas of endeavor, namely: sprirituality, education, environment, talents and skills development, livelihood and community involvement.
Their outputs were presented to the members of the board of judges composed of representatives of the National youth Commission, Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Cebunao Youth Foundation and Sugbuanong Pundok aron Sugpuon ang Child Abuse (Supaca), which is composed of TAYO 2 winners.
The other four winners that will join PYAP in the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards to be held in Manila Oct. 24 -28 are: Tsinelas Campus Volunteer Group of Cebu, Prima Galaw Inc. from Iloilo, SK Federation of Pasi City, Iloilo, Special Education Students Association also from Iloilo City.
The TAYO aims to recognize and award exemplary youth organizations in the country for their contribution to nation-building.
