MAASIN CITY ? Anahawan Mayor Roberto Loquinte has placed at P10 million the amount of damage to infrastructure inflicted on in his town by the 5.7 magnitude earthquake on Monday.
Loquinte said on Wednesday he had declared a state of calamity due to damages in the water system and other infrastructure that the town suffered.
He said water connections were broken while several houses made of light materials were destroyed.
Loquinte said the water connection has been restored but the water was still muddy.
The hospital pharmacy also suffered damages.
Elfledo Hernandez, executive assistant of the Southern Leyte provincial disaster coordinating council, said other towns suffered damages, too.
