CEBU CITY – The city of Cebu would attract more investors when the proposed harmonized business registration and licensing process is implemented.
Under the proposed unified system, prospective investors would no longer fill out voluminous application forms of different government agencies, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regional office said in a statement.
The would-be investors need only fill up a harmonized application form in lieu of the application forms of such government agencies as the DTI, the Bureau of Internal Bureau (BIR), Social Security System (SSS), Philhealth, Home Mutual Development Fund (Pag-Ibig) and the Cebu City government.
These agencies agreed on a harmonized application form during the recent two-day visioning, missioning and forms harmonization workshop conducted by the National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (Nerbac) Region 7, with the assistance of the GTZ-SMEDSEP, a sustainable employment project implemented by the German Technical Cooperation of the German government.
Requiring prospective investors to fill up a single application form would cut down processing time for the documentary requirements and save costs for entrepreneurs who wish to locate in Cebu City, DTI-7 regional director Aster Caberte said.
In the past, prospective businessmen locating in Cebu City have to fill out voluminous application forms of the different agencies, requiring the same data in the business registration, permitting and licensing process, Caberte explained.
