Cops rescue Indian kidnapped in Tarlac

NUEVA VIZCAYA -- Police on Thursday rescued an Indian businessman who was abducted by four men in Bamban, Tarlac, on July 1.

Supt. Domingo Lucas, acting provincial police director, said policemen found Harjinder Singh, 34, handcuffed and tied to a tree near a resort in Barangay Masoc in Bayombong town at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Police discovered the kidnapping when two of the suspects, Ernesto Martin and Daniel Cruz, figured in a road accident in Barangay Ibung in Villaverde town on Thursday, using Singh’s stolen Hyundai Getz. Melvin Gascon, Inquirer Northern Luzon

PNP asks Pampanga banks: Install CCTVs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- A police official in Pampanga has asked the 56 banks in the province to install closed circuit television systems in their premises to ward off robbers.

Telecoms giant helps in relief operations

ILOILO -- Telecommunications firm Smart Communications Inc. helped distribute relief goods to residents of areas in the Visayas and Mindanao who were suffering from the effects of Typhoon “Frank.”

Smart employees distributed a total of 1,500 relief packs during visits to Jaro, La Paz and Mandurriao in Iloilo and in the towns of Maitum, Kiamba and Maasim in Sarangani.

The packs contained rice, coffee, canned goods and personal care items.
