MANILA, Philippines? The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has forfeited unclaimed lotto prizes amounting to more than P600 million.
Manny Garcia, PCSO publicity and advertising manager, said the prizes were canceled because they were unclaimed for more than a year.
?He said unclaimed prizes will be forfeited after one year and will be donated to charity.?
?At least the money will be put to good use; we will be able to help more people in need,? Garcia said.
?We only give winners a year to claim their money, that?s a long enough period already,? he said, adding that the forfeited amount? P605,273,958.20?were mostly consolation prizes.
Meanwhile, a bettor from Luzon won P77.3 million in the Super Lotto 6/49 draw on Feb. 10.
The winner, who correctly guessed the winning combination of 44-06-09-01-40-24, placed his bet in a lotto outlet in La Union.
