MANILA, Philippines?Vice President Jejomar Binay yesterday appointed actor Robin Padilla as housing ?Ambassador of Goodwill? to help the government promote housing programs, especially for overseas Filipino workers.
Binay bestowed the honor on Padilla when the latter paid a courtesy call on his office in Pasay City.
A statement released by Binay?s office said that Padilla, a Muslim convert, was tapped in the development and implementation of housing programs for Muslim Mindanao.
Padilla will also be asked to help promote membership in the Pag-Ibig Fund, especially among OFWs.
The statement said that Padilla gladly accepted the offer and assured Binay of his support ?in any way he can.?
It said that Padilla has faith in Binay for having delivered quality services and help to his constituents when the Vice President was mayor of Makati.
?The actor voluntarily campaigned for Binay during the May 2010 elections. He said he does not wish for any government posts but would keep supporting the Vice President,? the statement.
