DAVAO CITY?HE?S GETTING there but even the divine may be having a hard time discerning the candidates.
Evangelist Apollo Quiboloy on Friday said he had had ?initial visions? about whom to support for president.
But while waiting for ?divine intervention,? he said he was torn between Sen. Benigno ?Noynoy? Aquino III and Sen. Manuel ?Manny? Villar.
Quiboloy is the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name, which claims about four million members.
In the 2004 elections, Quiboloy supported President Macapagal-Arroyo after he said he ?saw? her leading the country.
Candidates big and small have been making a bee line to his headquarters, seeking his blessing and all those votes.
In the present time, Quiboloy said he had his first ?vision? on Dec. 28 last year, on the feast of the Immaculate Conception.
He said that while praying on the prayer mountain in Barangay Tamayong, Calinan district here, a revelation came to him.
In it, he was talking to the late President Corazon Aquino, who bade him goodbye.
?We bade each other goodbye. I went to where I saw her to get my Bible and I found her there, reading the Bible. And there was a red rose. She asked me to bless Noynoy. I told her I would pray for him,? Quiboloy told reporters here.
He said another vision came to him on Jan. 25, and this time it was his mother, Maria, who had passed away in 1996.
Quiboloy said his mother asked him to bless Villar.
?Anak, si Manny ang gusto ko. Pwede ba i-bless mo siya (Son, I?m for Villar. Can you bless him)?? the pastor said his mother told him.
?I will be spending more time praying on prayer mountain and waiting for the final revelation,? he said.
Quiboloy said he would announce the ?final revelation? on April 25, his birthday.
Aquino, meanwhile, took time off from his campaign on Friday to meet with Quiboloy here.
Ironically, Aquino and Villar earned Quiboloy?s ire last week after both failed to show up for the Sukatan 2010 presidential forum the pastor had organized.
He said something to the effect that one should honor his commitments.
Aquino had confirmed his attendance at the March 9 forum, Quiboloy said, but he broke his promise.
Aquino e-mailed Quiboloy at the last minute to say he had an ear infection that could be aggravated by changes in air pressure, such as when flying.
On Friday, when they finally met, Quiboloy appeared forgiving.
?Noong panahon na yun di katanggap-tanggap (At the time I could not forgive him). At least now he?s here,? a smiling Quiboloy said, adding that ?there are things that are really beyond his (Aquino?s) control.?
Aquino said he felt Quiboloy?s kindness. He described their meeting as ?pleasant.?
Quiboloy, however, appeared to be still piqued at Villar.
?At least Noy is now here. Si Manny hindi pa nagpapakita (Manny has not shown his face),? Quiboloy said.
