MANILA, Philippines--They may be the ?in? thing in footwear today, but are they the real thing?
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents recently seized some P16-million worth of fake Crocs footwear in raids on several establishments in Manila, San Juan and Mandaluyong cities.
Lawyer Dante Bonoan, chief of the NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division, said the raids were conducted following a complaint filed by Raymond Roland Rojas of the Reyes Cabrera Rojas and Associates law firm which represents Crocs Inc., the real one.
After conducting surveillance and test buys, NBI agents armed with search warrants issued by Manila Regional Trial Court Judge Antonio Eugenio Jr. raided Jet Footwear and a warehouse on Juan Luna Street in Binondo, Manila. The establishments were reportedly owned by Felimon Chong and Cita Evardone.
The operatives later swooped down on Tokyo Hanna General Merchandise and several stalls at the Greenhills Shopping Center in Greenhills, San Juan.
They then proceeded to St. Francis Square Mall in Mandaluyong City were they raided several stalls.
