MANILA, Philippines?Call it a special package from Lady Luck.
A 37-year-old delivery man from Parañaque City claimed a P111-million bonanza on Monday as the sole winner of last week?s 6/49 SuperLotto draw.
The instant multimillionaire went to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in Quezon City accompanied by a lawyer to collect his cash prize totaling P111,242,358, PCSO spokesperson Dr. Larry Cedro disclosed Tuesday.
The lucky bettor spent a mere P80 for his ticket and picked what turned out to be the winning combination?15-27-17-37-18-11?in one of PCSO?s yearend draws last Dec. 29.
?He told us that the numbers were taken from the birthday of the bettor and that of his girlfriend, as well as his house number, and other favorite numbers,? Cedro said.
The winner has also signified his intention to donate part of his winnings to charity, the
PCSO official added.
?He is planning to deposit the money in the bank and donate P1 million to Sagip Kapamilya (the calamity assistance arm of ABS-CBN Foundation Inc.),? Cedro said in a text message.
The 6/49 SuperLotto pot breached the P100-million mark four times in 2009, including the P111-million windfall offered in the Dec. 29 draw.
In February last year, two winners from the cities of Pasig and Caloocan shared a whopping P347 million, the biggest prize in SuperLotto history.
In May, two winners from Sta. Maria, Bulacan, and Pateros, Metro Manila, split the P188-million jackpot.
In September, a 44-year-old taxi driver, who placed only P60 in bets, took home P150.9 million for his wife and three children.
The second biggest SuperLotto jackpot ever went to a 61-year-old construction worker from Novaliches, Quezon City, who took the P249-million prize in April.
Winners have a year to claim their prize and are advised to sign their name on the back of the ticket and protect the delicate thermal paper from any damage.
