Mystery crash left Tiger Woods with 'fat lip'—report

ORLANDO - Golf superstar Tiger Woods had a "fat lip" but no other visible facial injuries when Florida Highway Patrol officers met him four days after a mysterious car crash outside his home, a local television station reported Wednesday.

Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes told WESH-TV in Orlando that Woods and his lawyer met FHP officers on December 1 - after Woods had thrice turned authorities away from his home as they attempted to get his version of events.

Woods had been briefly hospitalized after the accident, in which his car crashed into a fire hydrandt and a tree. The mysterious incident touched off a sensational sex scandal, with Woods eventually admitting to marital infidelity.

FHP officers had arranged the meeting with Woods to deliver a 164-dollar citation for careless driving, Montes told the television station. She said officers also wanted to see if Woods had any injuries that were inconsistent with a car accident.

Montes said officers had no reason to believe he was a victim of domestic violence.

Woods hasn't been seen in public since the accident and announced via his website on December 10 that he was taking an indefinite leave of absence from the PGA Tour to focus on rebuilding his marriage.
