A MORO ISLAMIC Liberation Front (MILF) commander suspected of involvement in the beheading of 10 Marines in Albarka, Basilan, in 2007 was arrested in Zamboanga City on Saturday, police said.
Philippine National Police Director General Jesus Verzosa said Asnawi Addan Salah, commander of the MILF 114th Base Command, was accosted by Western Mindanao police office and Special Action Force operatives at the Zamboanga International Airport.
Verzosa said Salah was among 130 MILF members charged in the July 10, 2007 killing of 14 Marines, 10 of whom were beheaded.
He said Salah was facing nine counts of murder and four counts of frustrated murder in Isabela City.
The suspect was taken to Western Mindanao police headquarters at Camp Abendan for questioning, Verzosa said. Marlon Ramos
