THE undefeated WBO Asia Pacific champion Milan Melindo and highly-regarded bantamweight Michael Domingo of the fabled ALA boxing faces another big test when they collide against tough Mexican fighters on October 3 at the Cuneta Astrodome.

The 21-year-old Melindo who hails from Cagayan de Oro is the highest world-rated Filipino in his division as he is ranked WBO #1, WBA #3, IBF #3 and WBC #5 and appears to be only a few more fights before reaching the pinnacle of his career.

Originally scheduled to face WBC#8 contender Ivan Meneses, the encounter was suddenly aborted due to some managerial problem with their agent and replacing him is equally dangerous Mexican Guadalupe Martinez who is now slated to trade blows with Melindo.

The iron-fisted Martinez is parading a fearsome fight record of 7 wins with 7kos in 9 fights with a solitary loss to Victor Proa.

Fighting in the same card is the 30 year-old veteran Michael Domingo who will be meeting former US Olympian Jose Navarro.

The IBF world-rated Domingo was unimpressive in winning his last fight against Monico Laurente of Elorde Stable last March 14, 2009 and has to do better to win over the talented Navarro.

Navarro boasts of 26 wins with 12 ko?s and four losses in 30 fights and counts among his prominent victims Gabriel Elizondo, Ivan Baas and Reynaldo Hurtado. But he also lost in all four world title attempts.

He lost twice in Japan against defending champions Katsushigo Kawashima and Musamori Tokuyawa and faced another setback when he was outpointed by IBF champion Dimitri Kirilov in Russia.
