A FILIPINO WOMAN bound for Dubai died last month while on a Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong due to profuse bleeding, the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a belated report.
The DFA identified the woman as Nurfaida Juklani Burung of Tawi-Tawi. It did not say if Burung was a contract worker.
The Philippine Embassy in Bangladesh told the DFA that Burung was taken seriously ill on the flight of June 22.
Burung expired as the plane made an emergency landing at Dhaka’s Zia International Airport in Bangladesh.
On June 26, Philippine Ambassador to Dhaka Zenaida Tacorda-Rabago coordinated with Dragonair Dhaka in facilitating the repatriation of Burung’s remains to the Philippines.
The embassy also coordinated with the Office of Vice Governor Ruby Sahali of Tawi-Tawi for the repatriation of Burung’s remains to the province.
