CHARGED
ROBBERY charges were filed in court against one of the persons implicated in the botched P7.6-million jewelry heist in Cebu City last year.
The Cebu City Prosecutors' Office found probable cause to indict Junjun Gamanay who remains at large.
Gamanay was identified by businesswoman Jennifer Dela Cerna as one of the individuals who ?actually participated? in the commission of the crime.
Gamanay was pointed to by witnesses as the driver of the get-away motorcycle.
Gamanay eluded arrest following the jewelry heist inside McDonalds in barangay Punta Princesa on July 21, 2009 while his alleged companions Frederick Ybañez, Jeromy Polistico, Noel Davis, and Kirby Abanilla, were arrested by police during a traffic jam shortly after the robbery.
Ybañez, in his extra-judicial confession, identified Jennifer Enriquez, Gamanay, and Roy Jose Quimada as his cohorts.
Ybañez and Abanilla pleaded guilty and were sentenced to two to four years imprisonment.
Enriquez is out on bail while Davis is facing trial.
Polistico was shot dead by unidentified men after posting bail last year while Quimada was killed in Ozamis City./REPORTER ADOR VINCENT S. MAYOL
