MANILA, Philippines? The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has inaugurated a new home for its police station in Fairview.
The P38-million structure on Pearl Street was built by the city government to replace the old police station along Commonwealth Avenue near Don Jose Subdivision.
Mayor Feliciano Belmonte said the construction of modern police stations is part of the city government?s efforts to address street crimes.
The building was formally opened on Thursday.
?This highlights the city government?s continuing effort to spread the gains of the city?s development to fast-growing communities where police visibility is much needed,? the city mayor said.
The Fairview police station has jurisdiction over Barangays Sta. Lucia, Fairview, Kaligayahan, Greater Lagro, Pasong Putik and North Fairview .
It is the fourth built by the city government; the others are Station 1 in Masambong, Station 4 in Novaliches and Station 6 in Batasan.
?The construction of more police stations, especially in the city?s crowded communities, also aims to level the police-population ratio in Quezon City,? Belmonte explained.
He added that the city government is also dedicated to getting more patrol cars, communication equipment, firearms and ammunition to help strengthen the QCPD?s peacekeeping efforts.
