MANILA, Philippines ? Three suspected illegal recruiters, who conducted their business inside the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center in Quezon City, were arrested on Friday afternoon in an entrapment operation.
Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo, head of the Quezon City Police District?s Intelligence and Operations, said Jemer Almoneda, 47; Rosita Tesado, 39; and Reynaldo Arcega Jr. 51; were arrested based on the complaints of 13 of their alleged victims.
An investigation showed the three had recruited the victims to work in farms in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
The victims said they were asked to pay P10,000 each ? P5,000 as processing fee and a P5,000 fee for health tests.
Pedrozo said an undercover police pretended to be an applicant and joined the ?business meetings? inside the park that led to the arrest of the alleged illegal recruiters.
