MANILA, Philippines--National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Nestor Mantaring Wednesday urged one of the bureau?s investigators who was accused of killing two of his neighbors to give himself up.
Mantaring said Saul Hermano, a special investigator assigned to the NBI legal division, should come out and face the allegations leveled against him.
?I was told that he has not reported for duty since the incident happened. It will be better if he comes out and answers the charges against him,? he added.
The Muntinlupa police have launched a manhunt for Hermano who allegedly shot dead his neighbors, Noly Dimaapi and Edmundo ?Ding? Ullega, at around 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 16.
Based on a police report, Hermano got irked when the victims, who were drinking in front of Dimaapi?s house in Katarungan Village 2, Muntinlupa City, taunted him for being ?under de saya? (henpecked). Dimaapi?s widow has denied the story, saying the two were shot without any provocation.
The report said Hermano shot the two men repeatedly and then fled. The victims were taken to the Medical Center in Muntinlupa where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
The police have filed two counts of murder against Hermano in the Muntinlupa Prosecutor?s Office.
