MANILA, Philippines--A raid on two drug stores at a mall in Binondo, Manila, led to the arrest of seven persons, including two Chinese nationals, and the seizure of P1.5 million worth of sex toys and drugs said to boost a person’s sex drive.
The raid on Him Guan Drug Store and Fuyuan Drug Store in Meisic Mall was carried out last week by policemen from the Manila Police District-District Intelligence Division (MPD-DID) and Bureau of Foods and Drugs (BFAD) agents.
MPD-DID chief Senior Supt. Ernesto Fojas Jr. identified those arrested as Chinese nationals Lu Zi Jing, 62, owner of the Fuyuan Drug Store and Ali Tan, 27, manager of the two drug stores; sales clerks Monick Reyes, Cinderella Gomera, Mylene Tavas, Lea Villegas and Marilyn Cantoja.
Fojas said that before the raid was conducted on Nov. 12, they placed the drug stores under surveillance and conducted test buys.
Seized from the stores were boxes of alleged sex-enhancing Chinese-manufactured drugs such as Impious Man capsules, Fly Lunchongfen sachets, fake Viagra tablets, Jie Tou Qi Shi capsules, Li Zhan Qi Tian capsules, Zhangsheng capsules and Toro Capsules.
These were turned over to BFAD for inventory and safekeeping.
Fojas said the drugs, which were not registered with BFAD, were being sold at prices ranging from P600 to P1,800, depending on the brand name.
